TRAINING OPTIONS FOR PARTNERS

An international distance learning program titled 'Applications of Genetics in Precision Nutrition' is available through the Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning Center of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). The e-learning program is coordinated by Aristides G. Eliopoulos, Professor of Biology and Genetics at the Medical School of NKUA and a collaborating researcher at the Foundation for Medical Research of the Academy of Athens. Dr Kalliopi Gouskou also contributes to the program, addressing topics related to the impact of genetics on dietary habits and how the methodology of life coaching can be incorporated into providing nutritional genetic information.

Why is this program important?

The impressive progress made in understanding the relationship between genetics and nutrition over the last two decades calls for the integration of Genetics and Dietetics towards Precision Nutrition. Nutrigenetics fundamentally changes the approach to obesity and related diseases, providing personalized dietary recommendations that take into account each individual's genetic profile.

Experienced professors and researchers from Greece and abroad, along with renowned professionals in the field of Nutrigenetics, teach in this program, all sharing a vision of excellence in knowledge and innovation. The extensive experience of the instructors is reflected in the structured, comprehensive, and focused curriculum aimed at measurable and practical results, with an emphasis on the ability of participants to understand and manage nutritional genetic information.

Who can participate in the program?

The program is attended by dietitians-nutritionists, doctors, biologists, and other bioscientists interested in applications and/or further research in the field of Nutrigenetics. The thematic units of the curriculum reflect this duality.

The application of genetic information in determining dietary recommendations is carried out by scientists who possess the relevant professional license and have received appropriate training and certification.

NKUA awards a Certificate of Continuing Education to successful program participants, along with ECVET 5.2 credits (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training), as well as a Europass Certificate Supplement that is internationally recognized.

The program is international, and the official language is English. At the end of each unit, there will be an assignment with a maximum of 1000 words. At the end of all units, there will be a multiple-choice examination. The program lasts for 13 weeks, and the total cost is 400 euros.
