In the first stage, we collect an epithelial sample from the inside of the cheek (buccal cell smear), which is an entirely painless and brief procedure carried out with a suitable brush. Employing cutting-edge techniques, the handful of cells we gather is amply adequate for extracting DNA, the genetic blueprint from which we will decode the status of your genetic polymorphisms.

In the second stage, the DNA is analyzed by the GENOSOPHY® genetic test which extends over a staggering 750,000 polymorphisms, solidifying its position as one of the most expansive commercial tests for diet-related ailments across the globe. By meticulously scrutinizing genetic information, we derive insights regarding the genetic predisposition to conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and other diet-linked issues. This is accomplished by computing polygenic risk scores (PRS) or genetic risk scores (GRS). We evaluate over 600 distinct genetic positions to formulate personalized dietary recommendations and several hundred more to curate lifestyle advice encompassing exercise, meal scheduling, stress management, specialized skin protection against solar radiation and aging, and more. The repository of genetic data we explore is inexhaustible, enabling us at GENOSOPHY® to furnish risk scores for a diverse array of illnesses, along with an individual's reaction to medicines (pharmacogenetic insights) and specific dietary components. The pinnacle of our technical journey arrives at the third stage, where we feed the genetic data, lifestyle specifics, and basic blood biochemistry metrics of each individual into a pioneering machine learning algorithm we developed in the Medical School of the University of Athens. The algorithm's brilliance lies in its ability to synergize genetic findings from the GENOSOPHY test with other bio-clinical data, culminating in finely tailored dietary and lifestyle recommendations. This breakthrough algorithm's accolades include recognition in the inaugural Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of the University of Athens, and it stands as a prized 'trade secret' within the University's fold.
